Kia ora whānau
Every three years New Zealand schools are required to elect their parent/community representatives (Board of Trustees) to run this election process the current board must employ a Returning Officer. In addition to my role as the school administrator, I have been employed by the Board of Trustees to be the Returning Officer for this election. All eligible voters at Fruitvale School have now been sent (via mail) the documentation that will enable them to nominate themselves or someone else for this role. These were posted to the address we have attached to your child's details on our student management system.
Attached is a letter from Poata Eruera - the current Board Chairperson that outlines the role and responsibilities of the Board, also included is a link to the NZSTA website with detailed information about becoming a Board member. https://www.schoolboardelections.org.nz/becoming-a-board-member/
If you are interested in becoming a Board of Trustee member and would like more information please do not hesitate to contact me or Poata during school hours and I/we will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
