Welcome to the families that have enrolled their child to start school for the first time in 2019.
The Board of Trustees and Senior Management have chosen to remain with the existing 5th Birthday enrolment scheme, the existing scheme allows children to start school at any time on or after their 5th birthday, but before their 6th Birthday. Our Board of Trustees have opted to not implement a cohort entry enrolment scheme as cohort entry limits families to only being able to start school on two set dates per term, this was seen as non beneficial to our wider community.
If your child turns 5 after Day 1 of the school year on 7th February, they will be eligible to start school on their 5th birthday and to have school visits prior to starting school.
School Visit for children starting after day one of 2019 will take place from Week 3 on the Tuesdays prior to their 5th birthday. The first of these visits will take place on 19th February
- Week 3 19th February 2019
- Week 4 26th February 2019
- Week 5 5th March 2019
- Week 6 12th March 2019
- Week 7 19th March 2019
- Week 8 26th March 2019
- Week 9 2nd April 2019
- Week 10 9th April 2019
We suggest all children (and parents) to bring a small snack and water with them to eat at break time. Break time is an important time and we encourage families to stay during this time, it gives you and your child the opportunity to discuss what happens at play time, what to do if they need to bathroom at playtime and what the bells etc mean. This is all important information for children navigating their first few days in a new environment.
We don't expect your child to wear uniform on their visit, but uniform can currently be purchased at the Warehouse in New Lynn. (Watch out for upcoming information around a proposed uniform change, you may wish to hold of purchasing until we have released the new uniform)
- Monday 28th January 2019 - 9.30pm - 2.30pm School Office will reopen for enrolments, stationery purchases and general enquireys
- Wednesday 6th February 2019 - Waitangi Day - Public Holiday
- Thursday 7th February 2019 - First Day of school 2019
At the start of each school year we have a "Meet the Teacher" family evening, if your child is starting in Term 1, you are more than welcome to come along to the evening, all events are advertised via the school Facebook page so make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed.
If you have any questions with regards to your child's enrolment please don't hesitate to contact me either via email, in person or on the number listed below.
Our aim is to make our enrolment process as simple as possible. You can either download and print the enrolment form from this site or stop by the Office and pick up a hard copy.
If your child is New Zealand born we simply need a copy of their birth certificate or passport. For non New Zealand born children we require a copy of the relevant valid visa in their current passport.
Pre-schoolers are encouraged to attend three school visits, these are on Thursdays from 8.55am - 11.40am, an adult must remain onsite for the duration of the visit.
If you have any further questions with regards to enroling your child or regarding the curriculum, please don't hesitate to contact the school office and we will answer them for you, or arrange a meeting with one of our senior management team.
Please don't hesitate to contact us at any time if you have questions around an enrolment
