The BOT (Board of Trustees) is made up of 5 to 7 members and these are elected for a three year term.
Our current Board is a great group. You can meet them here.
The Board is the governance mecanism of the school. They are the employer and the ultimate authority under the government in the school. We meet at least eleven times a year and discuss issues related to the school, its community and any information recieved from or to be sent to the multitude of businesses and agencies that interact with the school across the year, including the Ministry of Education.
The Board CEO is the Principal. The principal is both an active member of the Board and the CEO of the school, managing day to day affairs, making and actioning recommendations to, for the Board and from the Board.
You can see the policies the Board operate with
HERE.
Should you wish to communicate with the Board please contact the principal in the first instance. If you are not satisfied with this response please contact the Board in writing.

Paul Strauss (Taz)

ChairpersonBorn in England in 1960, I emigrated to Sydney, Australia with my parents at the age of 10. I remained there until 2001 when I moved to New Zealand to be with my fiancé. I am a director and principal shareholder of a small, family owned business (Computer Solutionz) and we look after all the technical side of ICT for Fruitvale School. I originally put myself up for election as a trustee of Fruitvale School in 2007 because I really felt the school could benefit from my wide range of experience in business, financial and management skills. I have now been Chairperson for the past two years. Fruitvale School has so much to offer and I am proud to be involved with providing our children with a positive learning experience that enables them to strive for excellence, and prepare them both socially and academically for their future years.

Principal (CEO)Fruitvale School is the second school I have had the privilege to lead. My first principal position was at Richmond Road School in Auckland's Inner city. I relieved for the then principal who was away on a year's study leave. Prior to being the principal I was the deputy principal. Both positions and both schools I have enjoyed immensely. I have a special interest in helping the Board of Trustees to work well. I believe the parent representatives on the Board need to be a window into the parent community of the school. They offer the school community the benefit of their combined experience and their opinion in a diverse range of portfolios makes a huge difference. It is my job to ensure they are informed about the many, varied and complex matters we consider and that together we decide what will work best for our community of families and learners. The Fruitvale School Board of Trustees are a competent, caring group of people that you get a chance to meet here.

TreasurerKia Ora Whanau.
I have just completed my Bachelor of Education for Primary Teaching and hope to use this knowledge to make the best decisions for our children at Fruitvale. I have recently been made Treasurer for the Board and am looking forward to all the learning that this position involves. It is my intention as a parent representative on the Board to be a sounding board between parents and the school. My door is always open. I have lived in West Auckland most of my life and I myself attended Fruitvale Primary. It was a great school then and continues to be today thanks to the Principal, staff, Board of Trustees and a great bunch of children. They all combine to make volunteering within different roles at the school a rewarding experience. -
